Sunset on the Hudson

So I was running late to meet K, M & B for Sex and the City and I grabbed a cab. I got stuck in major traffic on the West Side Highway so I took a breath and looked out the window. WOW!!

I just started snapping pictures. So beautiful. Just think had I been on time I would have taken the subway and missed this!! :) I made it in time btw!

Happy Birthday to me...and it was!

Today was a wonderful day. It was one of the best birthdays I can remember in a LONG time. I woke up to flowers from K which I took to work. I then found a gift card and balloon from V. My team at work then presented me with an Ipod Nano since my Dell DJ is on the way out. Then I grabbed dinner with J in Hoboken on my way to rehearsal. I left early and met P and to see Pillow Talk in Chelsea. It's one of my favorite old movies. I remember watching Rock Hudson movies with my mom and this one was one of our favorites. It was fun to share it with P. Then we went to Burritoville for a LATE dinner and he gave me some wonderful gifts. He gave me a sock that he knit for me. (I think I get the other one next year!) then he gave me an Ipod Touch!! WHAT what? I have been wanting one but didn't really see it in the budget for the near future. He engraved it with a lyric from a song that is very speical to me. But the best gift he gave me was a little handmade book of rememberances from the past six months. Just funny personal things that only he and I would really understand plus Lucy and Ellie wrote me some poems. What smart dogs. Who knew they could write?!?

It was so thoughtful and special to me. The effort that he put into it, and everything for that matter, is what really touched me. So often in my life my birthday has been negative and for P to make it so bright was really amazing.

I sure do love that guy!

Look what I got!!!

After agonizing over it for over half a year I've upgraded to a smart phone. Or as I like to call it...a Gifted and Talented Phone. I LOVE IT!! I worked a decent deal since my contract was up. I had to realize that no matter how current I am with a phone or what have you the next one will be out before I know it. So I celebrate that I have a great phone that I really enjoy. And before you ask...I didn't want an Iphone. I don't want to be told what company I have to use for service and I don't love the touch keypad. I MUCH prefer the buttons on Curvy!! This was my early birthday gift to myself.

Laka whata?

This is a shot of the Lakawanna tower in Hoboken. Can you tell where I've been spending my time lately?

Please pass the ketchup

So as I walked down Washington St in Hoboken I stumbled upon this sight in front of the Johnny Rockets. I had to take a picture. I must admit I find garbage interesting for some reason. Anyway I found this fascinating. THREE garbage cans full of empty ketchup bottles. I wonder how many days this is from? I hope it's all recycled.

Cherry Blossoms when you want 'em

This is a shot of a picture for sale on Washington St in Hoboken. Since I love Cherry Blossoms I had to take a picture.

Don't make 'em like they used to

I love this building. I walk past it on my way to rehearsal in Hoboken. I just love the colors and ornateness. It really stands out against the other buildings.

Domeit

This is a dome over the Bryant statue from a few weeks back. It makes me think of a big eye.

Gemini Horoscope for week of May 22, 2008

Giuseppe Rebaudi and Silvie Basain started dating in 1952. This year they finally decided to take the next step. After a 56-year courtship, the 101-year-old Italian man wed his 98-year-old girlfriend. I predict that a comparable event will bless your love life in the second half of 2008, Gemini. Some romantic development that has been in the works for a long time will finally ripen into its full expression. Expect news about this soon.

This is the building next the Ferry Tower. I pass all the time but on this particular day I noticed it's charm.

Lakawana Ferrry Tower

In all the time I've spent in Hoboken these past few years I only just noticed that this tower says "Lakawana Ferry" on it. It reminds me of a line in "Hair" about the Lakawana Ferry. Who Knew?

Breakfast of Champions!

We've moved up from breakfast hor'dourves to the big leagues. These are organic blueberry waffles (Do you like Waffles?) with coconut oil, cashew butter, dried cranberries, walnuts, sauted banana, coconut, blackberry maple syrup and whipped cream!! :) They were super tasty if I do say so myself. Look out IHOP!!

Horoscopes for week of May 15, 2008

"Pain is weakness leaving the body," says fitness trainer Mark Duval. If that's true, you have gotten a lot stronger in recent weeks. By my astrological reckoning, you've shed a few months' worth of emotional distress, you've purged a few years' worth of frustration, and you've exorcised a couple of lifetimes' worth of confused dreams. Congratulations on all the new vitality you've earned through your constructive losses.

Rooftops

I noticed this on the way to P's place. The buildings look mostly the same but the most noticeable thing to me is the different colored awnings. I really liked them.

Bryant Park's Name Sake

As I walked across Bryant Park this evening I noticed this monument and inscription. I never knew who it was named after.

Random

I was walking down 80th street and noticed this in the window of some store. I am not sure what they were trying to sell with it but it got my attention.

Bryant Park Carousel

I spent some time in Bryant Park recently and noticed that the Carousel was back. It's hard to get a shot when it's moving. I thought it was funny that they had it going even though no one was on it!

Cherry Blossoms!!!

This is the Cherry Blossom tree on my block. I've been waiting for it to bloom. Sadly it will only be there for few weeks!

Horoscopes for week of May 8, 2008

According to a survey, one out of every ten people says the Internet makes them feel closer to God. I predict that you will be part of that group in the coming days, Gemini. But it's not just surfing the Web that will bring you into more intimate communion with the Divine Wow. Washing dishes will do it, too, as will buttering toast, brushing your teeth, and skipping down the street. For that matter, throwing imaginary rocks at the sky, blowing your nose on your sleeve, and pretending you're a rock star will put you into a more fluid alignment with the Primal Root. Pretty much everything! What if you're an atheist? You're free to ignore the evidence of Spirit's presence pressing in on you from all sides. But even if you do that, I bet you'll still enjoy a profoundly enhanced sense that life is wildly meaningful.
